Orix Buffaloes suffered a come-from-behind loss to Seibu Lions, dropping their winning percentage back to 50% in just one day.

In the 7th inning, with the team leading by one run, reliever Yamazaki—with one out and a runner on first—allowed An-Ko Lin a game-tying RBI single doble to left-center field. In the ensuing jam with one out and a runner on third, it appeared he had gotten Nevin to ground out to third, but third baseman— Mune’s throw—catcher— Wakatsuki catch failed to field the ball (recorded as an error by Wakatsuki), and, cruelly, this became the game-winning run.

In the eighth inning, the third reliever, Yamaoka, failed to record a single out and was pulled with no outs and bases loaded. The fourth reliever, Yamada, who took over, gave up a two-run single to center field to Takizawa.

Starting pitcher Jerry gave up six Hit by Pitch and hit batters through six innings, but allowed only three hit and no runs. He was unable to secure his fourth win, his first in five games since the game against Softbank Hawks on June 23rd (at Mizuho PayPay Dome), but he pitched a career-high 111 pitches to set the stage for the game. "I threw a lot of wild pitches and mishits from the start, so it wasn't a good pitching performance, but thanks to the solid defense from everyone behind me, I think I was able to closer them scoreless," he reflected.

In the sixth inning, with one out and runners on first and third base, Nakagawa hit sacrifice fly to left field to give his team the lead. However, they were unable to score any more runs after that, and their August start was marked by a loss.
