Seibu Lions who had dropped to third place the previous night, won a close game and climbed back up to second place in just one day. They secured their first win of the second half of the season, ending their two-game losing streak.

The lineup hit runner against the opposing starter Jerry every inning, but couldn't score. In the second inning, with two outs and runners on first and third, Wakabayashi grounded out to the pitcher; in the third, with one out and runners on first and second, Nevin flew out to right and Hirasawa grounded to first; in the fourth inning, with two outs and runners on first and second, Takizawa looked for a struck out.
