Orix Buffaloes pitcher Sean Hjelle hit two consecutive batters with Hit by Pitch after one out in the second inning.

First, an inside pitch to Canario grazed his left elbow near the elbow guard, putting a runner on first with one out. The next batter, Yu Koga, was hit directly in the left elbow, creating a dangerous situation with runners on first and second. Earlier in the first inning, he had also hit An-Ko Lin with Hit by Pitch with two outs, making it his third hit of the game already. Shouts of anger from Seibu Lions fans echoed throughout the stadium.
