◇Saitama Seibu Lions Shinya Hasegawa undergoes surgery for a fractured hamate bone.

The Saitama Seibu Lions announced that player Shinya Hasegawa underwent surgery to remove the hook from his left hamate bone at a hospital in Tokyo on the 7th. He is expected to be out of action for approximately two months.

Hasegawa had played in 68 games this season, batting .286 and already recording a career-high 9 Home Run. He won the batting hitter and MVP award in the interleague series, contributing to the team's first-ever interleague championship, but fractured his hamate bone in his left hand on the 1st. He was removed from the roster on the 2nd.

Today, at the “THIS IS MISAWA Night Game”—a match sponsored by Misawa City, Aomori Prefecture, held at Zozo Marine Stadium—Himeka Shintani, an actress and model originally from Misawa City, took the field for the pitch ceremony at first baseman.

◇ Fukuoka Softbank Hawks to hold "The Hawks Players' Association Invitation to Watch a Game"

Fukuoka Softbank Hawks Players Association is inviting elementary school students from Fukuoka Prefecture and their accompanying guardians/chaperones to watch games at Mizuho MIZUHO PayPay Dome of their "The Hawks Players Association Interaction Game Viewing Invitation" program. Activities such as watching practice and taking commemorative photos with the players are also planned for the day.

This initiative, which began in 2025, is now in its second year. Its aim is to pass on the appeal of baseball to the next generation through interaction between local elementary school students in Fukuoka Prefecture and the players, as well as through baseball viewing. The number of invited participants is planned to be 32 per game, for a total of 480 people (including accompanying parents and guardians). Please note that there is no general application process.
