Nippon-Ham took control of the game from the start and began the second half of the season with a win. With four consecutive wins, their lead in the standings has reached a season-high of 13 games.
In the second inning, with two outs and runners on first and second base, Tamiya hit a timely single to right field to score the first run. Mizuno followed with a two-run single to center field, giving them a 3-0 lead in that inning.
In the third inning, Reyes hit his 22nd home run of the season, a solo shot over the center field fence, and in the fourth inning, Mizuno hit another RBI doble to right-center field, extending the lead.
Returning to the starting rotation, Tatsumi pitched brilliantly in the first game of the second half of the season. Although he was hit in the right knee area by a batted ball in the second inning, he showed no signs of being affected, hit six scoreless innings, runs only three strike out, ending his five-game losing streak as a starter and earning his third win of the season.
