On the 30th, Seibu Lions announced that they will be supporting the "Pink Ribbon Movement," which advocates for the importance of early detection, early treatment, and early diagnosis of breast cancer, and will be conducting the "The Lions Pink Ribbon Campaign 2026" from August 1st to February 28th, 2027.
This campaign, now in its second year, was initiated last year by head coach Yusuke Torigoe, who lost his wife to breast cancer in 2008 and said, "I don't want anyone else to experience the same feelings and suffering I did. I want to expand the circle of this activity." Through the team, Head Coach Torigoe commented, "The Lions conducted this Pink Ribbon campaign for the first time last year, and I am happy that we can work together again this year. I hope that this movement will encourage as many people as possible to learn about breast cancer screening, leading to early detection and treatment. We will continue our awareness activities in cooperation with the team so that The Lions fans can also learn about this."
This season, on September 13th, during the game against Nippon-Ham (at Belluna Dome), a mobile breast cancer screening unit and awareness booth will be set up in the plaza in front of the station to encourage people to get screened. In addition, from August 1st to February 28th, 2027, those who receive a breast cancer screening at the Tokorozawa City Health center fielder will receive a ballpoint pen designed with The Lions logo and the Tokorozawa City logo.
