Seibu Lions 's second-round draft pick, pitcher Hakua Iwaki, made his All-Star debut. Playing in his hometown of Toyama, he allowed three hit in one inning but kept runs.

He entered the mound as the sixth pitcher from the ninth inning with the team trailing by one run. Leadoff The Giants Sakamoto reached base with a left-field hit, but the following Yakult Masuda grounded out to second on a double play single. After that, Cabbage hit a left-center doble and Koga also gave up a right-field hit, but right fielder Nippon-Ham Mannami hit Cabbage with a direct throw to home plate. Mannami's strong arm also helped him, and he left the mound without runs.

Iwaki is a native of Tateyama Town, Toyama Prefecture. After graduating from Toyama Commercial High School and Chuo University, he joined the Seibu Lions as the second overall pick in the 2025 draft.This marked his triumphant return to the mound in a game attended by many local children, and before the game, he expressed his determination, saying, “I want to pitch my best so that fans can feel simple emotions like, ‘baseball is so much fun’ or ‘That’s amazing.’”
