Starting pitcher Otsu walked the leadoff batters, Canario and Watanabe, in succession, putting him in a Walk with no outs and runners on first and second. From there, Kojima hit a single to center field, loading the bases with no bases loaded, and Nakasato hit a timely single to right field, resulting in runs. With the score narrowed to a three-run difference and the bases still bases loaded with no outs, Hernandez took mound.

He came in as a relief pitcher, but gave up hit infield single to Nishikawa and an RBI single to right field to Takizawa, narrowing the lead to one run. Ishii then hit sacrifice fly fly to center field, tying the game.

With one out and runners on first and second, Hernandez was balked and advanced to second and third. Once again, a sacrifice fly to center allowed the team to take the lead. Then, with two outs and a runner on third, Nevin gave up his second balk in the inning, scoring his eighth run. Unexpectedly, he went all out to runs six and closed the gap to two runs.
