Seibu Lions took the lead with Home Run infielder Tyler Nevin his third consecutive home run.
He started the game as the cleanup hitter and first baseman. Leading off the second inning with the score tied 0-0, he said, "I was able to take a strong swing from the first pitch," and he swung with all his might at a 149 km/h fastball that floated high on the first pitch from opposing starter Kamichatani, sending his 15th home run of the season into the middle of the left field stands to give his team the lead.
For Nevin, this was his third consecutive game with a home run, following those against Nippon-Ham Fighters on the 22nd and 23rd (at Belluna Dome).
