In the second inning with one out and a runner on first, Softbank Hawks 's Kondo hit his 21st home run of the season, a two-run shot over the right field fence. "I just focused on making my own swing," said the third hitter. Kurihara followed with his 28th home run of the season, a solo shot to left-center field, making it back-to-back homers and putting him at the top of the league. This was the seventh time this season and the third time this month that Kondo and Kurihara have hit back-to-back homers.

Kondo and Kurihara had both hit back-to-back RBI singles in the first inning. Kondo RBI the league in RBIs RBI 73, while Kurihara had RBI.
