Starting pitcher Kishi threw 91 pitches over 6 innings, giving up 8 hit and 5 runs, resulting in his third loss of the season. If he had secured his third win of the season, he would have tied Masumi Kuwata (The Giants) and Jun Aramaki (Hankyu) with 173 career wins, but that will have to wait until his next start.

In the second inning, after hit Walk to Genda put runners on first and second with two outs, Koga Yu hit a three-run homer to left field, giving the opposing team the lead. He then gave up another solo homer to Nishikawa to right field, resulting in a total of four runs scored against them in that inning.

The batting lineup couldn't get a handle on Seibu Lions pitcher who were using bullpen day. In the fifth inning, trailing by four runs, Nakajima's two-run doble and other hits brought the score to within one run. In the sixth inning, trailing by two runs, Shigenaga's timely triple brought the score to within one run, but it wasn't enough.
