Orix Buffaloes catcher Ryoma Yamanaka hit his first home run of the season in the first inning with one out. He sent a high-floating cutter from Yamazaki into the right-field stands. "I was able to aggressively (aim for) a sweet pitch and hit it. I thought it might have gone up a little too high, but I'm glad it reached the stands." This was his second career home run, the first being his first professional Home Run on April 17 of last year.

In his second year this season, he was promoted to the first team in mid-May. He has become starting line-up and is maintaining a batting average in the .300s. Immediately after starting pitcher Takashima gave up a two-run homer to Kiyomiya, the same number two hitter retaliated.
