Seibu Lions lost a close game against Rakuten Eagles, suffering their second consecutive defeat.

Starting pitcher Natsuki Takeuchi pitched a solid game, allowing 6 hit and 3 runs over 8 innings, but suffered his second complete game loss, missing out on his 7th win.

He started strong, retiring the first three batters in order. In the second and fifth innings, he gave up solo Home Run in each inning, allowing two runs. He continued to pitch tenaciously, throwing 75 pitches by the end of the sixth inning. However, in the seventh inning, with the score tied 2-2 and two outs and a runner on third base, he gave up a go-ahead RBI single to left field to Rakuten Eagles third-round draft pick, Shigenaga, who was getting his first professional hit.

In the third inning, trailing by one run, Hiruma hit a timely single to center field with no outs and a runner on second to tie the game. In the sixth inning, again trailing by one run, Ishii hit a timely single to right field with two outs and a runner on third to tie the game once more, but they were unable to score any more runs after that.
