Nippon-Ham 's starting pitcher, Hiromi Ito, was pulled from the game in the middle of the seventh inning after giving up nine hit five runs (four earned). He suffered his fifth loss of the season.

In the 7th inning, with the score tied 2-2, Shuto and Kondo hit consecutive singles, putting runners on second and third with no outs. He then gave up a two-run doble to left-center field to Makihara Dai, and was taken off mound.

In his fourth appearance against Softbank Hawks this season, Ito had a record of 1 win and 2 losses. "Of course I'm frustrated, and I'm in a position where I should be leading the team, so the reality that I'm actually holding them back is frustrating, and I know I need to do better," he said, expressing his regrets.

Regarding the seventh inning, he reflected, "It's difficult to face Kondo while also taking care of steals, so it's a situation where you absolutely have to be the first to get the out. Even if you give up a run, you have to closer to just one, so I think that's something I need to reflect on."
