Nippon-Ham catcher Yua Tamiya suffered an accident.

In the fifth inning with one out and runners on first and second base, Tamiya attempted a bunt, but Softbank Hawks 's Hernandez threw a pitch that seemed to be coming towards his body. As he tried to dodge it, the ball hit the fingertips of his left hand, which was holding the bat. His fingers became trapped between the bat and the ball.

Tamiya winced in pain and immediately went to the dugout. Manager Shinjo was seen making an "X" with both hands in the dugout. Battery coach Yamada returned from behind the dugout and made an "X" sign with both index fingers. Pinch hitter Mizutani was announced.
