Seibu Lions took the lead with a home run infielder Tyler Nevin his first of July.

He started the game as the cleanup hitter and designated hitter. In the second inning, with the score tied 0-0, he swung at a 143 km/ cutter from opposing starter Jackson, sending the ball on a low trajectory into the left field stands.

For Nevin, this 12th solo home run of the season, his first since the game Chunichi on June 6th (at Vantelin Dome), was a valuable go-ahead hit. "I was able to hit it well when it came in sweetly," he said, raising his right hand as he rounded second base and nimbly circling the bases.
