Lotte's Ryusei Ogawa infielder (28) started the game starting line-up batting eighth and playing second base. In the sixth inning, with the score 3–4 and his team trailing by one run, with one out and runners on first and third, Orix Buffaloes he hit a game-tying RBI single to center field off the fourth pitcher, Iwasaki.

A ball that would have been a ball if he had let it go just above the ground, a 145 km/ fork, was picked up with the tip of the bat for a spectacular hit. This then set the stage for Fujiwara's go-ahead RBI single with the bases bases loaded and one out.
