Orix Buffaloes pitcher Daiki Tajima was pulled from the game after 1 1/3 innings, having given up 5 hit 3 runs. In the first inning, he allowed hit and Hit by Pitch bases loaded and then gave up a go-ahead RBI single to left field to Aito. In the second inning, immediately after his team's offense tied the game, he gave up a go-ahead RBI double to right-center field to Fujiwara with one out and doble on first. With one out and a runner on second, he then allowed an RBI single to center field to Nishikawa.

At this point, manager Kishida quickly decided to switch to the second pitcher, Hiroshi. This was the third time in the last four games that Tajima had been removed from the game before completing five innings.
