Orix Buffaloes Andrés Machado pitcher was thrilled on the 9th by a surprise from Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The Venezuelan guardian attended a "Reconstruction Support Gathering" with Yakult Jose Osuna and former WBA Interim World Minimumweight Champion Juan Landaeda, following the major earthquake on June 24. A video message was sent from Yamamoto, who was the opponent's starting pitcher in the March WBC quarterfinal against Japan.

"I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the devastating earthquake in Venezuela. We have many teammates from Venezuela on the Dodgers. We also played against the Venezuelan national team in this year's WBC, so Venezuela is a very familiar and special country to me. I offer my heartfelt condolences to all those affected and those who are still living through anxious times. I sincerely hope that peace will return to the people of Venezuela as soon as possible."

Machado joined Orix Buffaloes in 2024, the same year Yamamoto left to pursue a career in Major League Baseball. "I am truly delighted to receive such a warm message for Venezuela as a surprise. I don't know if I will have the opportunity to meet Yamamoto in person, but there are teammates at Orix Buffaloes who have connections with him, so I hope to convey my gratitude through them," he said with a solemn expression.
