Orix Buffaloes 'Yuito Mae

On the 9th, Orix Buffaloes Buffaloes announced that their developmental pitcher, Yuito Mae Mae, underwent ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery on his right elbow at a hospital in Osaka Prefecture. He is scheduled to begin rehabilitation after a few days in the hospital.

He previously joined the team in 2019 as the fourth pick in the draft from Tsuda Gakuen, and pitched in a total of six games for the first team over two years starting in 2023. He re-signed as a developmental player in the offseason of 2024 and underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in May of last year.

In his seventh professional season, he made his return to competitive play in a practice game on May 22nd, but his last appearance was in a practice game against BC Ishikawa on June 9th. He complained of discomfort in his right elbow again, and after discussions with the team, it was decided that he would undergo surgery.

On July 2nd, Ogita, who is also in the development program, underwent a similar second surgery. It seems that he will also be aiming to return to competition in as little as one year.
