Seibu Lions announced on the 8th that outfielder Shinya Hasegawa underwent a "left hamate bone hook removal surgery" at a hospital in Tokyo on the 7th. He is expected to be out of action for approximately two months.

Hasegawa started as the "number 5 batter and first baseman" in the game against Softbank Hawks on the 1st (Mizuho PayPay). He was injured when he hit a ground ball to third base in his third at-bat in the 7th inning, and after the game he went to the hospital and was diagnosed with a "fracture of the hamate bone in his left hand."

In the interleague series, he played in 16 games, recording 22 hit At Bat 60 at-bats for a batting average of .367, 2 Home Run, and 9 RBI, earning him the Most Valuable Player award. He made a significant contribution to the team's first-ever interleague championship, including hitting walk-off hits in two consecutive games against Hiroshima on June 9th and 10th (at Belluna Dome). He was the first Seibu Lions player to receive the award, and his award as a developmental player was a first in NPB history.
