◆ Pacific League Seibu Lions 6-1 Rakuten Eagles (July 7, Naha)

Seibu Lions ended their six-game losing streak, which had included a draw, in their game against Nippon-Ham Fighters on June 27th (at Belluna Dome), and secured their first win of July in their fifth game of the month. Starting pitcher Kaima Taira a native of Ishigaki Island in Okinawa, pitched five scoreless innings, runs only four hit, achieving the "first win by an Okinawan pitcher in a game held in Okinawa." This was the long-awaited first win in the 38th NPB regular season held in Okinawa since the league began in 1961.

Taira started with three players retiring in order from the first round. In the second and third rounds, two players from the front were each slashed to struck out, finishing with three players.

In the fourth inning, he gave up his first hit hit to right field by Nakajima, but got Muneyama out on a grounder to shortstop double play. He then hit two consecutive Walk with runners on first and second with two outs, but Murabayashi got through with a swing struck out at 141 km/h slider. He also got two outs in the fifth inning and bases loaded, but struck Muneyama struck out and did not allow any runs. He was taken out after this inning.
