◆ Pacific League Seibu Lions 6-1 Rakuten Eagles (July 7, Naha)
Rakuten Eagles lost the first game of the series, suffering their second consecutive defeat.
Starting pitcher Shoji threw 107 pitches over 5 innings, giving up 6 hit, 4 Walk, and 4 runs, resulting in his eighth loss. He hasn't earned a win in over two months since his fourth win against Nippon-Ham on May 5th.
Although he gave up a runner from the start, he managed to hold on, but in the 4th inning, he was in trouble with one out and runners on second due to Ishii's doble, and gave up a go-ahead RBI single to An-Ko Lin. In the following 5th inning, with two outs, Kojima Walk and Nevin hit a hit to left field to run first and third. Ishii then hit a three-run homer to right field. He allowed Home Run in seven consecutive games and added runs.
The offense was completely closer by Seibu Lions 's starting pitcher Taira through the third inning. In the fourth and fifth innings, they managed to get runner into scoring position, but couldn't get the crucial hit. In the sixth inning, Watanabe Yoshihisa hit a timely single off reliever Kuroda to score one run, but they were unable to get a handle on Seibu Lions 's relief pitchers from the seventh inning onward.
