Kitayama, on a seven-game winning streak, started aiming for his league-leading ninth win, but it was a miscalculation. In the third inning, leading 0-0, he suddenly collapsed after an error by third baseman Gunji. With Walk and Hit by Pitch, he gave up a grand slam to Nishikawa with one out and bases loaded. He also gave up a home run to Soto, giving up five runs in this inning. In the fourth inning, he committed two errors himself, and in the middle of the inning, he was taken out of mound. "In the bases loaded (third) moment, it was a waste, especially when the opponent was in a low-scoring game with Jackson pitcher. As a result, it ended up being a tight pitch.
