Seibu Lions suffered their worst losing streak of the season, six games in total (including one draw), missing out on their first win of July once again.

The poor hitting, which had been part of the losing streak, remained unchanged in the game where the game was restarted after a rainout cancellation. Before Orix Buffaloes 's starter Espinoza, there was only one infield hit home run through the fifth inning. In the sixth inning, trailing by one run, with leadoff hitter Canario outfielder hit and stolen base, the team advanced to scoring position for the first runner time with two outs and a runner on second, but second batter Natsuo Takizawa infielder looked down and was downed on the struck out.

In the seventh inning, trailing by three runs, the team strung together back-to-back hit with two outs to put runners on first and third. Pinch hitter Yuto Koga catcher then scored a run with a double infield hit. However, with runners still on first and second in a prime scoring opportunity, pinch hitter Shuta Tonosaki infielder swung and missed struck out. In the eighth and ninth innings, they were unable to break through the Orix Buffaloes bullpen.

pitcher Chihiro Sumida, who had been scheduled to pitch the day before, gave up a solo home run to Ota in the second inning, but then retired three batters each in the third through fifth innings. However, in the sixth inning, he gave up costly additional runs on timely hits from Yamanaka and Moritomo, and was removed from the game after that inning. His season record is now 6 wins and 5 losses.
