Before the game, a special stage was set up to solicit donations for the victims of the large-scale earthquake that struck Venezuela. Crossing team boundaries, Softbank Hawks pitcher Hernandez and Lotte pitcher Castillo, both from Venezuela, participated, along with Softbank Hawks 's third-round draft pick, pitcher Gota Suzuki (from Osaka Commercial University). 210 fans formed a long line, and the three responded with high-fives.

Hernandez said, "I am truly filled with gratitude. Venezuela is going through a difficult time, but I hope that by giving 100% on the field, we can encourage Venezuela and help the country move forward little by little. Thank you for your continued support," and was met with warm applause.

The collected 186,579 yen will be donated through the Fukuoka Prefecture branch of the Japanese Red Cross Society.
