Rakuten Eagles infielder Rui Muneyama recorded his first hit of the season.

He was promoted to the first team as the number 9 batter and shortstop, and immediately made his debut starting line-up. It was the 8th inning, with a 5-run lead, two outs, and the bases loaded. He hit doble to left-center sweep.

Muneyama played in 122 games last season and was aiming for further progress as the regular shortstop in his second year, but he injured his left wrist while headfirst sliding in an exhibition game against The Giants on March 20 (Tokyo Dome). He suffered a left wrist cartilage (TFCC) injury and will be sidelined for more than three months.

This was his first promotion to the first team this season. He expressed his feelings, saying, "I was happy to be able to return to the first team stage, but I also felt a sense of determination, knowing that I need to act and play with even more responsibility from practice onwards."

The team is currently languishing at the bottom of the league. A key player has returned to help them mount a comeback.
