◆ Pacific League: Rakuten Eagles vs. Nippon-Ham (3rd, Rakuten Eagles Mobile Saikyo Park Miyagi)
Rakuten Eagles infielder Rui Muneyama was added to the active roster on the 3rd. This marks his first promotion to the first team this season. He expressed his feelings, saying, "I'm happy to be able to return to the first team stage, but I also feel a renewed sense of responsibility, knowing that I need to practice even harder to act and play with a greater sense of responsibility."
Muneyama played in 122 games last season and was aiming for further progress as the regular shortstop in his second year, but he injured his left wrist while headfirst sliding in an exhibition game against The Giants on March 20 (Tokyo Dome). He suffered a left wrist cartilage (TFCC) injury and will be sidelined for more than three months.
On June 24th, he made his return to competitive play in a farm league game against Hayate (at Shinrindori Izumi). Up to that point, he had played in five farm league games and had a batting average of .312. He emphasized, "I've been mentally and physically prepared so that I'm ready whenever I'm called up (to the first team)."
The team is currently struggling at the bottom of the league. "I think every game is a must-win, and that's something that never changes, but if the team is going to climb up from here, we need to be even more conscious of that. I hope that we can do something positive, whether it's in our play during the game or in other ways. I want to always be thinking about whether my actions are beneficial to the team," he said emphatically.
