Orix Buffaloes On the 2nd, the team announced that Atsuya Kogita pitcher (27) underwent medial collateral ligament reconstruction surgery on his right elbow at a hospital in Osaka Prefecture. After a few days in the hospital, he is scheduled to begin rehabilitation with the goal of returning to competition in one year.Ogita underwent a similar procedure in April of the 25th year and re-signed as a developmental player during the offseason. In December of that same year, he had a bone fragment removed from his right elbow, and he also underwent a debridement procedure this past March.

He had recovered enough to pitch in bullpen by early June, but shortly afterward complained of discomfort in his right elbow. He had been aiming for a comeback with his first reconstructive surgery, but after repeated discussions with the team, he decided to undergo a fourth operation.
