◆ Pacific League Nippon-Ham 9-1 Orix Buffaloes (August 2nd, ES CON FIELD)

Nippon-Ham decided the game in one fell swoop with a historic first in NPB history: four consecutive home runs from the leadoff batter in the first inning.

In the first inning, trailing by one run, Mizutani hit a solo homer over left to tie the game. Mizuno followed with a go-ahead solo homer to right, and Reyes sent his 20th solo homer to the back screen. Mannami then hit his 16th solo homer to left-center. With four consecutive Home Run from the first inning, he KOed Orix Buffaloes starter Hajime Sato. The 1-inning streak of four consecutive homers was also the sixth time in 40 years.

While the lineup added runs in the 3rd~6th innings, starter Arihara pitched tenaciously despite giving up runner. He held on with just one runs he gave up in the first inning of Home Run, and with a 6-hit runs in the sixth inning, he earned his second win of the season and became the 144th player in history to win his 100th NPB career.

The team swept Orix Buffaloes in three games, extending their winning streak to five games and increasing their lead to a season-high of 12 games.
