Orix Buffaloes ・ It was revealed on the 1st that Atsuya Kogita pitcher (27) will undergo surgery to reconstruct the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. He underwent a similar procedure in April 2025 and has since undergone three surgeries, including a joint cleaning. He had been progressing through rehabilitation in stages and had even participated in bullpen pitch in early June, but immediately afterward, he reported discomfort in his right elbow.

For Kogita, who is entering his fifth professional season as a developmental player, another long and difficult road awaits him. Lately, he hasn't been able to throw at all, and can't even do shadow pitching. He had believed that he would make a comeback after his first rehabilitation, but after discussions with the team, he had no choice but to make a decision.

In 2023, the reliever had an excellent record of 4 wins and 7 hold in 38 games, contributing to the team's league championship. "I definitely want to pitch again. My desire to contribute to Orix Buffaloes hasn't changed," he continued. His goal is to be back on mound and reinstated to the main roster in one year. He believes in his comeback and is only looking ahead.
