Rakuten Eagles 's winning streak came to an end at four. Starting pitcher Masaru Fujii pitched a strong five innings, allowing only one runs. The team switched to relief pitchers from the sixth inning, but third pitcher Haruto Nakagomi, who came in from the seventh inning, gave up a go-ahead bases loaded slam to Nishikawa.

The momentum for a fifth consecutive win faded in the 7th inning with the score 2-1. Nakagomi allowed an infield single to second base to the leadoff hit, Kida, and then Watanabe laid down a sacrifice sacrifice bunt, putting runner in scoring position. At this point, Watanabe Yoshika misplayed Yamanaka's Walk ball to first base, widening the jam, and then walked Ota, loading the bases with one bases loaded. At this point, Nishikawa hit a fastball on the fifth pitch after getting 1 strike out of a 3-ball count, perfectly connecting with the ball. Nakagomi watched in stunned silence from mound as the ball soared into the right-field stands.

The batting lineup managed to score two runs off Kuri, but they couldn't deliver a decisive hit against the opposing team's relief pitchers.
