Rakuten Eagles Tsuyoshi Ishihara catcher Ishihara Hyo was injured and had to leave the game. He had been leading starting pitcher Kish well, closer runs through four innings. He even executed a sacrifice bunt in the fifth inning with no outs and a runner on first, fulfilling his role, but he left defense in the fifth inning to be replaced by Horiuchi.
Manager Yoshii Masato explained, "His fingers got a little sore from batting."
