◆ Pacific League Orix Buffaloes 1-5 Rakuten Eagles (27th, Hotto Motto Kobe)

Orix Buffaloes suffered their third consecutive loss, resulting in their first monthly losing record of the season. The game remained scoreless until the 6th inning when starting pitcher Espinoza gave up two runs. Immediately afterwards, Kurebayashi hit his 9th home run of the season to narrow the gap to one run, but third pitcher Teranishi collapsed in the 8th inning, giving up three runs. They suffered a bitter defeat against last-place Rakuten Eagles. Fifth-place Lotte, who did not play a game, have now closed the gap to two games.

In March and April, they had a record of 17 wins and 10 losses. In May, they also had a winning record of 13 wins and 12 losses, but in June, with two games remaining, they had a record of 7 wins, 11 losses, and 1 tie. Moritomo returned as the "number 3 hitter and designated hitter" after suffering from an upper body injury, but the pitching and hitting just didn't click.
