In the 8th inning with one out and runners on first and second base, he dove to catch a ball hit to right-center field by Rakuten Eagles 's Horiuchi. He made contact with the ball with his glove, but it slipped out, and he fell with his left arm trapped under his body. He appeared to have injured his left side, but after going to the dugout, he reappeared on ground. The crowd erupted in applause.
