Seibu Lions, Shuta Tonosaki, and infielder—who underwent surgery on his right lower back in April—rejoined the first team on the 27th. “My lower back is fine now. I’m really fired up and ready to go,” he said with a smile.

In his 12th professional season this year, starting line-up started in the opening game as the "number 5 hitter and designated hitter." He played in 9 games, batting .200 with 1 Home Run and 5 RBI.

On April 23, he underwent a "right L2/3 transforaminal total endoscopic disc cystectomy" to improve his condition, and made his return to competitive play on May 4 in a farm league game against DeNA (at Carminique).
