◆ Pacific League: Softbank Hawks vs. Orix Buffaloes (25th, Mizuho PayPay Dome)
Orix Buffaloes pitcher Soichiro Yamazaki gave up runs for the first time in 11 games. He came in as the second pitcher in the fifth inning with the score tied, two outs, and a runner on second base. He managed to get Kurihara to fly out to left field, successfully putting out the fire.
However, in the sixth inning of the stumbling game, a pitfall awaited. After Makihara fumbled a grounder from leadoff runner Makihara, second baseman Ota fumbled, giving Yanagida a Walk, and Imamiya's pitching sacrifice bunt led to a crisis with runners on second and third. Unno followed up with three pitches struck out. With two outs, Shoji hit a go-ahead two-run single to center field.
With two outs and a runner on second and runner remaining, third pitcher Yoshida advanced to mound. Yoshida also gave up a timely single to left field by Masaki who followed. Yamazaki had zero earned runs but recorded 3 runs.
