Shinya Miyamoto, who played for Yakult, updated his YouTube channel, "Kaitai Shinsho [Shinya Miyamoto Official YouTube Channel]," by the 24th. Along with Hisanori Takahashi, who played for The Giants and in MLB, he discussed the appointment of Masato Yoshii as the new manager of Rakuten Eagles.

On the 10th, Rakuten Eagles announced that former manager Hajime Miki would be taking a leave of absence, and head coach Tatsuya Shiokawa had been serving as interim manager. Then, on the 15th, it was announced that Yoshii, who had managed Lotte until last year, would be taking over as manager.

This is the first time in history that an outside manager has been brought in mid-season, making this an unusual move. Miyamoto predicts that "he will get to know the team in the remaining time and will be fully operational next year." Miyamoto has experience as a coach alongside former manager Miki at Yakult, and he speculates that Miki's move to Rakuten Eagles in 2019 was likely a long-term move for the team, with Miyamoto having him "manage the minor league team and then the major league team." Regarding the dismissal, he analyzed that although it was only one year since Miki took on the managerial role, it was his second term, so "the team probably wanted to see more results."

He also expressed sympathy for Coach Shiokawa, who was appointed acting manager and then immediately dismissed from his managerial position, saying, "I feel sorry for him." He added, "There are all kinds of teams," and commented, "I want them to value the manager position more." He said that compared to the past, managers are in a position where they are "salaried" and "criticized," and regarding the current situation where managers are quickly replaced based on factors such as the "number of debts," he appealed, "You're the ones who decided on the manager," and "There are plenty of company presidents in Japan, but there are only 12 managers (in NPB). It's a position that everyone has always dreamed of. I feel like it's being taken very lightly. If you've appointed someone, I want them to value them."

Takahashi asked Miyamoto, "What would you do if someone asked you about becoming the manager of Rakuten Eagles in the current situation?" Miyamoto replied, "I would talk to them properly, but they wouldn't come to me." While Manager Yoshii is "in favor of front office leadership," Miyamoto believes that "only those on the ground know the situation" given the prevalence of front office leadership, and therefore speculated that "given the current state of professional baseball, I don't think it's likely for someone like me to become manager."

Miyamoto, who was drafted by Yakult, and Yoshii, who was acquired in a trade from Kintetsu, are five years apart in age, but they were drafted in the same year, 1995, and apparently, in the beginning, they would take taxis back to the dormitory together after games. Regarding the new manager, who is a contemporary of theirs, he predicted, "Surely they'll let him do it for two or three years." He also expressed his anticipation for changes brought about by the shift from fielder Miki to pitcher Yoshii.
