Seibu Lions took the lead with a hit by infielder Kazunari Ishii.

In the second inning with neither team scoring scores, one out and a runner on first. Ishii, starting at second base batting seventh, scooped up a low outside breaking ball from the opposing starter Takinaka, resulting in a timely doble that broke through right-center for the opening goal. Although the next batters fell and he couldn't score any more runs, extra inning in the 12th inning with two outs, he walk-off the nightmare he had suffered the night before. Ishii said, "The one who got hit was sinker. Kishi held on and got on base, so I managed to keep going and got to bat. The moment I hit, I thought I had broken through, but with a nice run by Kishi at first runner, I was able to score first. Kishi, nice run!! he commented.
