Nippon-Ham 's pitching and hitting clicked, snapping their two-game losing streak and putting them back in a seven-game lead.

In the first inning, Reyes hit his 16th home run of the season, a solo shot over left field, to give them the lead. In the third inning, Shindo hit his 2nd home run of the season, a solo shot over right field, and Mizuno and Otsuka followed with consecutive extra-base hits to add two more runs and extend their lead.

In the middle innings, they were unable to score any additional runs despite getting runner on base, but in the 7th inning, Shindo led off with doble the left field line. The next batter, Yamagata, laid down a bunt that resulted in an infield single, putting hit on first and third with no outs. Mizuno then executed a safety squeeze in front of first base, scoring a crucial fourth run.

On the pitching side, starting pitcher Kitayama threw 105 pitches over nine innings, securing his second shutout game of the season with only three hit and nine strike out. He extended his unbeaten streak to six games since May and earned his seventh win of the season.
