Nippon-Ham manager Tsuyoshi Shinjo (54) gave an unusual "explanation of the situation" to Softbank Hawks Hawks manager Kokubo after the game. In the sixth inning, during Reyes' at-bat, Softbank Hawks catcher Umino pointed to both of Reyes' eyes and made a gesture as if he doubted the signal relay, leading to an argument with home-base umpire between them. After the game, the manager explained his exchange with Kokubo, saying, "There was a misunderstanding. We have no intention of winning by doing something underhanded, and we don't want to win by doing so. We didn't do it. I told him to pass that on."

In the game on the 19th, the previous day, there were suspicions that second runner Reyes was relaying signs to hitter. He defended his star player, saying, "It was in yesterday's game, right? Probably. He was doing something from second baseman. More (Reyes) isn't that kind of person, and if he was doing something like that, I wouldn't let him. Manager Kokubo understands that," emphasizing that he was fighting fairly and squarely.

Reyes showed his excellent form by hitting sacrifice fly in the sixth inning and his 15th home run of the season in his fifth at-bat in the eighth inning, marking his first Home Run in three consecutive games since coming to Japan.
