Orix Buffaloes offense was sluggish, managing only three hit and suffering their ninth shutout game loss. In the first inning, lead-off hitter Nishikawa hit a single to left field, but after that, they failed to score a hit until lead-off hitter Kurebayashi hit a single to center hit in the ninth inning. They handed shutout game win to Seibu Lions 's Sumida.

Starting pitcher Perdomo gave up 7 hit 4 runs in 4 2/3 innings, suffering his third loss of the season. In his second mound since being moved from the bullpen, he was unable to secure his first NPB win as a starter.

Regular third baseman Mune was substituted out of the defense in the fourth inning due to discomfort in his lower body. He had played in 62 games so far, supporting the team.
