Rakuten Eagles suffered a come-from-behind loss to Lotte.

This was the first game since manager Masato Yoshii took over. The game started with action from the beginning. In the first inning, with two outs and a runner on first, McCusker hit a two-run homer to left field, his fourth of the season. The home run by the foreign player gave them the lead, and the manager applauded in praise. In the third inning, with a one-run lead and two outs and runners on second and third, Yoshi Watanabe hit a two-doble. The offense was functioning well and they scored additional runs.

However, starting pitcher Shoji couldn't hold on. In the third inning, with a three-run lead, he gave up a two-run doble to Soto that broke through left-center field, and in the fourth inning, he surrendered a solo home run to Yamaguchi, allowing the opposing team to tie the game.

The team switched pitchers in the sixth inning, but the relief pitchers couldn't hold on. When the second pitcher, Sho Suzuki, allowed the bases to be loaded with two bases loaded, Shibata came in to take over. However, Shibata gave up a bases loaded slam to Aito. Despite their desperate efforts to bring in relief pitchers, the new manager was unable to secure win in his first game.
