Nippon-Ham defeated Softbank Hawks in a close game, securing their first win against them this season. This ended their eight-game losing streak against Softbank Hawks. They increased their lead to a season-high eight games and closed the gap to just one game behind second-place Softbank Hawks.
In the first inning, Mizutani hit Home Run hitter his third of the season, a solo shot over left field to give his team the lead. Although they were temporarily overtaken in the fourth inning, they managed to regain the lead in the bottom of the inning with consecutive RBI hits from Manami and Nomura.
In the sixth inning, Reyes hit his 14th home run of the season to right-center field, extending the lead.
