Trailing by one run in the fourth inning, Nippon-Ham managed to score four hit against Softbank Hawks starting pitcher Otsu and successfully took the lead.

Reyes and Kiyomiya Yuki hit consecutive singles to create a scoring opportunity, and with two outs and runners on first and second base, Manami hit a game-tying RBI single to right-center field. Then Nomura hit a go-ahead doble to right-center field to take the lead.

Having conceded the lead in the top of the fourth inning, Manami commented, "I'm glad we were able to score quickly." Nomura added, "I thought it was one of our few chances, so I'm glad we were able to ride that momentum and take the lead right away."
