Softbank Hawks Hawks pitcher Alexander Armenta was removed from the active roster on the 15th. He started the game against Yakult on the 14th (at Mizuho PayPay Dome) but was pulled after 2 1/3 innings, having given up 2 runs. He struggled with control, issuing 4 Hit by Pitch and hit batters. After the game, he was told by the coaching staff to readjust his pitching, specifically to "improve the accuracy of breaking ball." He said he intends to return to the first team as an improved player, stating, "That's what I want to work on from now on."
The following day, he practiced at the farm team's facility in Chikugo, Fukuoka. In his first start in Japan on May 27 against The Giants (Tokyo Dome), he gave up 5 runs in 2 1/3 innings. In his second start, he felt he had improved, saying, "I think I was able to adjust better than last time," but he was still unable to secure his first win.
The 21-year-old left-handed pitcher represented Mexico in the World Baseball Classic this past March. He played as a developmental player from 2022 and was registered as a regular player in May of this year.
