Nippon-Ham tied the game with a home run offensive.

Trailing by two runs in the sixth inning, Otsuka led off with a solo home run to right field, his fourth of the season, to narrow the gap to one run. Then, Manami followed with a solo home run to left-center field, his 13th of the season, to tie the game. Chunichi 's starting pitcher Wakui looked up to the sky in disbelief at the home run, and the game was tied.

Nippon-Ham took the lead in the first inning with an RBI single to center field by Nomura, but starting pitcher Furubayashi lacked stability and was knocked out in the middle of the fourth inning after giving up five runs. Nevertheless, they were mounting a comeback, with Reyes hitting his 13th home run of the season over the right field fence in the third inning.

A win for Nippon-Ham would mark their first 10-game winning streak in 10 years. At the start of the game, they are trailing Softbank Hawks, who are currently leading the interleague standings, by 0.5 games.
