In the first game of a three-game series between the league leaders, Seibu Lions took the lead with a hit outfielder Shinya Hasegawa.

In the bottom of the first inning, with one out, Takizawa, batting second and playing shortstop, hit hit to left field, extending his streak of consecutive games on base to 32. With one out and a runner on first, Hasegawa, batting third and playing center field, hit a 147 km/h fastball from opposing starter Takemaru for a go-ahead RBI doble to left-center field.

Hasegawa recorded RBI in his fifth consecutive game.
