Nippon-Ham achieved their first six-game winning streak of the season, bringing their lead to a season-high of four games above .500. This six-game winning streak in interleague play in the same season is the first in 15 years, since 2011.

In the third inning, Otsuka hit his third home run of the season, a solo shot that marked his second consecutive game with a home run, to give his team the lead. In the fifth inning, trailing by one run, Mizutani, who had just returned from a fractured left wrist on the 9th, hit his second home run of the season to left-center field to tie the game.

In the seventh inning, with one out and runners on second and third base, Mizutani once again hit a two-run single to left field, giving his team a valuable lead in the late stages of the game.
