Musical actor Ikusaburo Yamazaki took the mound for the ceremonial first pitch at Seibu Lions-Hiroshima game. His powerful throw from the set position landed directly in catcher 's mitt without bounce. The speed gun registered an astonishing 107 km/h. The stadium erupted in gasps and applause.

Yamazaki also threw the ceremonial first pitch at Rakuten Eagles-Nippon-Ham game on April 7th (Rakuten Eagles Mobile), clocking 101 km/h. He has now successfully broken that record.
